FAQs & Shipping Information

Straight answers on how the platform works, plus the practical details — pallets, paperwork, and USPS documentation — that make drop shipments go smoothly.

Frequently Asked Questions

The questions mailers ask us most

How does the platform streamline drop shipping?
It removes the manual carrier-selection process and the endless phone calls. You enter a job on one simple form; communication back to you is instant and precise; every shipping document is generated automatically for printing at the end of your session; and every transaction is saved to your account for easy future reference.
How can the service be this good at these prices?
Specialization. Drop shipping US Mail to Post Offices is all we do, so we've refined an operational system that produces consistent, successful deliveries — and along the way we've secured partner pricing with America's leading transportation providers.
What types of US Mail can you ship?
The platform is designed for letters, postcards, and flats. Have something outside that scope? Contact us — between our mail network and our freight capability, we can usually help.
Why do you outsource the transportation?
Because it lets us choose only the best ground carriers and specialized air carriers for each lane, instead of forcing every mailing onto one fleet.
Can you pick up my mail today?
Yes — requests received by 3:00 PM are picked up by 5:00 PM the same day. Requests after 3:00 PM are scheduled for the next business day.
How do I know where my mail is after pickup?
Shipment status updates are available in your account around the clock, and you can opt into email notifications — including one confirming the moment your mailing delivers to the Post Office.
Why drop ship to the delivering Post Office at all?
Two reasons: your mail is expedited straight to the office that delivers it, which makes in-home delivery dates far more accurate, and the USPS grants destination-entry postage savings for mail inducted closer to its destination.
What USPS documents are required for shipping?
For FAST Full-Service mailings, every pallet needs a 99M barcode placard (also called an Intelligent Mail container barcode, or IMcb). If you're not Full-Service, a USPS Form 8125 — completed by the mailer and your local BMEU/DMU — must travel with each mailing as proof of postage at the destination office. We supply the bills of lading, shipping labels, and logistics pallet placards.
Do I have to make USPS drop shipment delivery appointments?
No — we make all drop shipment delivery appointments through PostalOne!'s FAST application on your behalf. Prefer to make your own? That option is yours.
What payment methods do you accept?
eCheck, MasterCard, Visa, American Express, or Discover, charged at time of service. We pay the transportation providers directly — one payment, no freight invoices to reconcile.

Shipping Procedures

Building the perfect pallet

A well-built pallet is the difference between a smooth induction and a rejected one. Three things to check before pickup:

🧱

Stack It Square

Trays or sacks stacked evenly and stable, with no overhang beyond the pallet edges.

🌀

Wrap It Tight

Stretch wrap must bind the mail trays or sacks to the pallet itself — not just to each other — so nothing shifts in transit.

🏷️

Placard Every Pallet

Each pallet carries its placard (99M/IMcb for Full-Service) plus the logistics placard we generate for you.

The Paperwork

Your shipping document set

Every drop shipment travels with a small stack of paperwork. Here's what each piece does:

Pallet PlacardIdentifies each pallet's destination
📋
Bill of LadingThe carrier's contract of carriage

Return EnvelopeSelf-addressed & stamped, for the signed 8125

The Form 8125 process, step by step

Non-Full-Service mailings only — Full-Service mailings skip the 8125 and use 99M pallet placards instead.

Copy & Staple

Make two copies of the completed 8125 and staple one to each of the two bills of lading.

Flag the Original

Attach a "please mail this 8125 back to me" flag and a self-addressed, stamped envelope to the original form.

Send It With the Mail

The original 8125 rides with the shipment so the destination Post Office can verify postage at induction.

Get It Back Signed

The Post Office signs the 8125 and mails it back to you in your envelope — your delivery receipt for the record.
